Love Stories

Claire and Ben booked Hornington Manor over 2 years before their wedding date and we were the first venue they looked at. I think when you know, you know.

When their date finally arrived, Claire and Ben moved in to the wedding barn and started decorating with all the beautiful home-made touches Claire had lovingly made. Terracotta posts housed rustic branches and moss, with hanging delicate glass tealight holders. Earthy potted heathers sat on the tables and each guest was gifted with a little bottle of sloe gin at their place setting.

Claire and her Bridesmaids took over the Manor with hair and makeup artists Joanna Green and Kate Howard. Claire looked stunning in her delicate lace gown and beautiful veil and her bridesmaids wore the most beautiful deep blue sequin gowns.

Claire and Ben said I Do in Church before returning to Hornington in a vintage cream Rolls Royce. Guests arrived laden with huge floral displays from the church, all of which were made by Ben’s mum Sarah and were absolutely stunning.

Kings Catering served up a delicious feat of Antipasti, followed by Sausage and Mash and finished off with our favourite, Sticky Toffee Pudding.

Claire’s dad Steven sang a Michael Jackson classic- “Ben the two of us need look no more, we both know what we’ve been looking for!” He revealed that Ben now has a beautiful new wife and Steven now has a lovely new drinking partner!

Ben thanked both sets of parents and presented them with gifts. Special thanks went to his dad, David, who has helped doing up Ben and Claire’s home, and who also found time to frighten them to death sending a photo of himself on top of the house saying guess where I am. We learnt that both Claire and Ben are obsessed with cats. When they first started living together, they took in a stray cat which ended up giving birth on their kitchen floor leaving them with 2 kittens that they adore still today.

Claire and Ben’s first dance was to ‘Loud Like Love’ by Placebo and as evening fell, guests tucked into a fabulous tiered pork pie and cheese cake and buffet prepared by Claire- she certainly had been busy! It wasn’t long until Claire Grandad took to the dancefloor and sang a special song to the happy couple to start the evening celebrations- “She Wears Red Feathers” by Guy Mitchell, and it was a fabulous rendition!

Claire and Ben had created a DIY photobooth on the mezzanine and set up a giant Connect-4 in the Lychgate which provided hours of entertainment for all the guests.

It was a beautiful day from start to finish and congratulations to the happy couple!
