On the very same day in history, William Wordsworth was born in 1770 and Dick Turpin was fatally punished for horse stealing in York in 1739. But now more importantly, the day now marks the marriage of Becky and Jamie.
Becky and Jamie met in 2010 at a diocesan preparation event for World Youth Day in Madrid. Since then, they have travelled the world together, and Jamie asked Becky to marry him in 2015 while on a trip to Amsterdam.
Becky and her bridesmaids left for church on Saturday morning. Becky was absolutely stunning in her A-line dress from the wonderful Precious Bridal. Their bouquets were beautiful with bursts of colourful pink and lemon-yellow flowers. Becky’s bridesmaids wore taupe shimmery gowns that were all slightly different and suited each bridesmaid perfectly.
Jamie and his ushers, including brother and Best Man John, wore navy suits complimenting Jamie’s paler shade.
Becky walked down the aisle to a piece of music specially composed by Jamie and Harley, and all the music for their special day had been lovingly chosen by Jamie.
It was clear so much thought and time had gone into every detail in the Wedding Barn. Over the wedding weekend, the major golf tournament, The Masters was taking place, and due to Becky’s families love of golf, each table was named after previous winners of the tournament.
Jamie, to Adrian, Becky’s dad’s, delight had recently taken to playing golf and Jamie set his guests a challenge. Guess the number of shots it took Jamie to complete 10 rounds of golf and win £40 behind the bar! The winning table was Nickleson with a guess of 917!
Instead of favours, Becky and James had decided to donate to a number of charities very special to them. Macmillan, St Gemma’s Hospice and the Alzheimer’s Society. Each guest was given a button and could choose the charity they wished Becky and James to donate to on their behalf by popping their button in the corresponding jar. It was such a wonderful and meaningful touch and incredibly thoughtful.
Their incredible wedding cake was made by Where the Ribbon Ends, decorated with fresh Summer berries and beautiful flowers. The dancefloor was beautifully lit by hanging fairy lights provided by Event Light and Sound.
Taking pride of place on the top table was a special horse shoe plaque to bring Good Luck to Jamie and Becky, from Becky’s Grandad.
Becky’s dad Adrian spoke of how he was bursting with pride when he walked his daughter down the aisle. He thanked his wife Angela for not only being a beautiful, tolerant and perfect wife, but for being an outstanding mother and guiding influence for Becky. He told Jamie, in case he hadn’t realised it yet, Becky and Angela come as a package- the ultimate buy one get one free deal!
Becky is a Year 5 Primary School teacher, at the very same school she attended as a youngster. In only a few years’ time, Becky will be teaching the children of her former classmates, which is such a lovely thought. Jamie is in his final year of Medical School, soon to become a Junior Doctor. Adrian credited Jamie’s parents, Richard and Ruth, for their fantastic son, and who wouldn’t want a sports mad Doctor as a son-in-law!
Adrian ended his speech with a few words of advice.
1) Love constantly, forgive quickly and be each other’s best friend.
2) To Jamie- whenever you are wrong, admit it. Whenever you are right, keep quiet!
3) Remember life is for living, make the most of every moment and enjoy it together!
Friends 4 Dinner served up an incredible Tapas feast of seafood and vegetable Paella, Meatballs, King Prawns, Patatas Brava, to name but a few! Pudding was hot sugary Churros with chocolate sauce and fruit skewers! Tea and coffee was served with little homemade chocolate brownies- Friends 4 Dinner always go the extra mile!
As evening fell, guests were entertained by the incredible New York Brass Band! Leading the guests out into the courtyard and turning it into the dancefloor, they played some fantastic songs and it was such good fun! We would highly recommend these guys if you are looking for a wedding band with a difference! After all the dancing, everyone needed pizza and luckily that’s what they got!
Becky and Jamie created such a beautiful and incredible celebration and it was truly a day to remember for all involved, especially us!
Congratulations Mr and Mrs O’Neill, we wish you all the happiness in the world. We received such a lovely email from Becky and Jamie once they returned home after their weekend of celebrations-
‘To Jo, Simon, Hayley and the rest of the Hornington Team
Where can I start?
You have all been beyond unbelievable. Arriving to set up on Friday, there wasn’t anywhere near as much to do as I originally thought because all the tables were already in the correct places and Hayley set about putting the table cloths on for us. We were also allowed into the Manor House earlier than we thought we would be able to which was another massive help and so kind of you.
On Saturday I didn’t have to stress about anything. Everything just slotted into place and was sorted out – I’m still not sure how some of the things actually got sorted as there were things I forgot to mention to anybody! We had the most fantastic day and evening and our guests were taken aback by how amazing Hornington is – everyone kept asking me how I managed to find this place!
It is a beautiful place but it would be nothing without the amazing team that runs it. You all made it so easy and I loved planning it from start to finish – let me know if you need another wedding planner at any point in the future!
It was so special to be able to extend our wedding day across the whole weekend and share it with all the people special to us.
I wish we could do it all very again!
Lots of love and best wishes,
Becky and Jamie’
