We were treated to bright blue skies on Saturday morning in anticipation of Sam and Dan’s wedding day.
As Sam walked across from the Lodge to meet her Groom Dan in the wedding barn, she looked beautiful. Her Princess gown was amazing, with a beaded sweetheart bodice and full skirt. Her bridesmaids, Danielle, Cassie and Alice, wore lovely navy blue fitted gowns and had loose plaited hairstyles, finished with delicate pearls and sparkle.
Samantha’s gorgeous veil came victim to the wind, and just as the guests stood for their entrance, the veil was blown across the courtyard! After a few minutes of repairing, Sam entered the barn and walked down the aisle to an instrumental version of Christina Perry’s ‘A Thousand Years’. She followed their beautiful Flower Girl Grace who, with much help from Dad, laid petals for the bride.
Once Samantha and Daniel had said ‘I Do’ they made their way to the courtyard for the confetti shot. Guests enjoyed hot Pimms and mixed beers in the Gallery while Dan and Sam were whisked around the grounds for photographs.
Sam’s father Tim spoke of the immense joy and pride he felt watching his beautiful daughter get married, and was passing on the baton to her new husband Dan to be her protector. He left the newlyweds with some advice to remember- no two marriages are the same, and what you put in is what you get out.
Dan took to the microphone and thanked everyone who had made their day so special. He welcomed his lovely guests to beautiful Yorkshire and Hornington Manor, and hoped that guests who weren’t exactly local, could understand why he and Sam had chosen Hornington to celebrate their day. Dan had worked out, that with guests travelling from all over the country, and further afield Spain and Australia, their guests had travelled a combined 45,860 miles, or 1.8 times around the world!
Dan thanked Sam’s parents Tim and Helen who helped with the stunning cake and beautiful candle lantern centerpieces.
And finally, he thanked his favourite Northerner, his bride. The two met 10 years ago at their first year of university and since then, they have become soulmates. He vowed to spend every second trying to make Sam as happy as she makes him.
Dan asked his Best Man Jack if he would do the honours, while at a cricket match with a beer in each hand. In Jack’s speech, we leant that Dan is not one for a big romantic gesture, and one birthday he bought Sam a frying pan! He joked of how Sam and Dan’s friends were all aware of the 2 opposing teams during arguments- Team Sam, and Team Dan. However today there is a new team- Team Woodhouse.
Each table took bets on the full length of the speeches (17:32) and with a guess of 17:04 the winners won a free round of drinks and first dibs of the incredible hog roast from Homegrown Hospitality. Their roast potatoes and gravy are to die for!
Evening fell and the celebrations continued into the night with sparklers, music, dancing and laughter.
Sam sent us her favourite photo form the night, and we think it might be ours too!
Congratulations Sam and Dan, and thank you for choosing Hornington for your special day.
