The day had arrived for the wonderful and lovely Marianne and Liam to wed. They had been planning their big day over two years, and in this time we and became firm friends with their visits to Hornington Manor. So, of course we were all equally excited for their day to begin. Marianne and Liam are a very local couple, Liam plays football professionally for Tadcaster Albion A.F.C, and his Dad was even an ex professional for Leeds United!

When they day arrived it was beautifully sunny, and things begun with the couple saying their vows in the quaint and ever so popular church of Bolton Percy. Before making their way to the ceremony, we spied Marianne’s beautiful dress – a strapless laced fishtail gown – she looked amazing! Her bridesmaids also, Georgina, Emma, Kayles and Mel all wore floor length gowns in muted neutral colours, accompanied by bouquets of Gypsophila. They completed the bride wonderfully. Sonny, Marianne’s chief bridesmaid and best friends, very sadly died last year, but she was truly there in spirit with a little token of her close to Marianne’s heart attached to her bouquet.

A vintage bus from Thornes arrived to take the wedding party to the church, whilst Liam’s wishes came true as he got to drive himself in a Ford Mustang!

Once the new Mr and Mrs Ormbsy arrived back at Hornington, they were whisked off for photographs in the fabulous grounds by the wonderful ____ . Meanwhile the guests enjoyed Prosecco and ice cold beers on the front lawn, resting their feet on sofas made from hay bales!

The wedding barn was dressed amazingly; we see so many different themes and ideas and Liam and Marianne’s vision was something we’d never seen before! Their amazing florist, Wild Floral Couture created fabulous tree designs as table centre pieces, each topped with baby photos of the bride and groom. The style fitted perfectly with the rustic nature of the barn and the overall effect was breathtaking! Photos of every guest made up the seating plan, and once they had found their seats, they were treated to homemade chutney and whiskey at each place setting.

During the wedding breakfast, Marianne and Liam transported their guests to Spain with wonderful tapas and paella dishes courtesy of the Fabulous Friends4Dinner team whilst flamenco music played in the background.

We see many unusual and original wedding cake ideas at Hornington, but Liam and Marianne surprised us with a 5-tier pork pie masterpiece which proved to be a huge hit with the guests!

Once the food was thoroughly enjoyed, the speeches began. Tales were told of how Liam was destined to be a professional footballer, his father Brendan was a professional footballer too, playing for Aston Villa and Leeds United in his successful career. With many of the guests also being footballers, there was unsurprisingly a theme of determination and teamwork in the speeches.

John, Marianne’s father, told of how Marianne obviously inherited her stunning good looks from her father!  He described Liam as a fella of old traditional values as Liam went to John and asked for Marianne’s hand in marriage.  John made everyone gasp and giggle when he revealed his tattooed sleeves in honor of Liam’s creative body art. His speech was even a hit with our baby lambs who joined in the applause from the back of the barn, with John thinking he was being heckled!

Liam thanked his parents, Wendy and Brendan, who would text him before every football match reminding him to “never give up, you’re an Ormsby!” Liam and Marianne make the most wonderful team.

Bottles of champagne were awarded as prizes for the sweepstake- how long the speeches would last, and for the winners of a quiz prepared by Liam and Marianne! A fun little element we thought. I was also presented with a beautiful Orchid as a thank you, which was the sweetest thing – thank you!

Marianne took to the dance floor with her father John who emotionally danced with his daughter before allowing Liam to take her in his arms and enjoy their first dance – it was a beautiful sight. After which, their guests invaded the dance floor all wearing masks of the newly-weds, and the partying began and lasted long into the night.

Congratulations Mr and Mrs Ormsby, thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful day – and we wish you the happiest married life!
