We have never had two people so laid back and unflappable as Stacey and Pete. They were calm from the minute we saw them. They had no need to panic anyway as they had their big day planned perfectly to the last detail. The Hornington Wedding Barn again was decorated wonderfully and looked beautiful for their civil ceremony. Stacey looked amazing wearing a gorgeous dress of antique lace. Her bridesmaids and maid of honour looked equally as amazing in powder blue, which brought colour to our inclement weather.
A lovely lady called Clare read out a series of appropriate verses at Stacey and Pete’s civil ceremony which again must be shared:
“He never leaves the seat up,
Or wet towels upon the floor
The toothpaste has the lid on
And he always shuts the door
She’s very clean and tidy
Though she may sometime delude
Leave your things out at your peril
In a second they’ll have moved
He’s a very active person
As are all his next of kin
Where as she likes lazy days
He’ll still drag her to the gym
He romances her and dines her
Home cooked dinners and the like
He even knows her favourite food
And spoils her day and night
She’s thoughtful when he looks at her
A smile upon his face
Will he look this good in fifty years
When his dentures aren’t in place
He says he loves her figure
And her mental prowess too
But when gravity takes her over
Will she charm with her I Q.
She says she loves his kindness
And his patience is a must
And of course she thinks he’s Handsome
Which in her eyes is a plus
They’re both not wholly perfect
But who are we to judge
He can be pig headed
Whereas she won’t even budge
All that said and done
They love time they spend together
And I hope as I’m sure you do
That this fine day will last forever
He’ll be more than just her husband
He’ll also be her friend
And she’ll be more than just his wife
She’ll be his soul mate ’till the end”
With the ceremony finished it was time for the afternoon and evening to commence. The speeches began and James, Pete’s long-time friend and best man, had everyone laughing at how they attended college together – of which he used the word “attended” very loosely! He described the antics and fool hardy things lads of that age got up to when growing up.
He mentioned how Pete’s love of D I Y started at his Mum’s home when they arrived there after a night out and decided to re-decorate the kitchen and dining room a lovely shade of black – due to him falling asleep after putting a midnight feast in the oven. The fire service was called and reported that these two likely lads were lucky to be alive!
Talking about Pete’s Mum, I have to mention the cake she made (which was still receiving the finishing touches the morning of the wedding) in fact I made a little batch of icing for her as she was a little short. It was one of the nicest I have seen; 4 tiers of 3 cakes high, decorated with luscious cream and fresh fruit. An amazing cake which everyone said it tasted as good as it looked.
Stacey and Pete treated their guests to a delicious hog roast, provided by Happy Hogs Catering and pizza from The Pizza Guy – which is hard turn down!
Guests danced the night away to the sounds of Dean Holloway who Dj’d an array of fabulous music – everyone was up on their feet and looking like they were having a thrilling time!
The Hornignton Manor Team would like to wish Stacey and Pete a wonderfully happy married life!
