Mr & Mrs Berry

Spring had definitely sprung for the wedding of Katie and Stuart.

The day was perfect. It started with the ceremony at the beautiful church of All Saints in Bolton Percy.  A verse of “I Wanna Be Yours” by John Cooper Clark was read by Andrew Belfield.

Once Katie and Stuart had become Mr and Mrs Berry, the guests made their way to Hornington Manor where they were met with champagne and canapés in the reception room. I must mention the reception room looked so beautiful in spring coloured bunting which was hand-made by Katie and her Mum.

Like all weddings everyone was pleased to see each other, friends and family of which many came from as far away as Missouri, California, Barcelona and even The Isle of Wight gathered in the Hornington Gallery. Guests had time to chat and catch up with each other before making their way into the wedding barn.

The Hornington Manor Wedding Barn had previously been decorated by Katie and Stuart (with the help of Mums and Dads) and it looked incredible! The room and tables were adorned with beautiful fresh spring flowers to match the lovely spring day, it looked amazing and a sight to be remembered indeed. The beautiful flowers were locally grown from florist Rachel from Ducks & Daffodils, and arranged by Katie and her family.

Time for the toasts and speeches, Katie’s Dad Peter was the first and it was plain to see he was the proudest parent of his radiant daughter. He welcomed everyone and thanked them all for coming to ‘God’s Country’ which created a laugh and various comments from a few guests. He did manage to reprieve himself however by quoting an African Proverb.

Peter’s speech told of how his daughter Katie, the first born, is known to be a little bossy but a marvellous organiser and so very talented. Katie had even embroidered each napkin with the guest’s name on it – all 140 of them. Wow! Katie wanted be a jeweller or a farmer’s wife when growing up, but instead she qualified as a doctor – to which himself and his wife were very proud of. He finished by saying how pleased they were that Stuart came into their lives and like the famous Bruce Springsteen line “Two hearts are better than one” and what lovely, caring, and talented hearts they are!

Stuart’s speech remarked how he and his wife were overwhelmed and in awe of the beautiful cake made by his sister in law. She had flown in from the US and made the cake days before the wedding in the Hornington Manor kitchen – and in such a calm and unflappable manner. He said thank you to all the gorgeous bridesmaids and to all the lovely people who took part in the organisation of the day.

Now for his best men to take to the microphone, who were wearing ‘Make America Great Again’ caps, jokingly with a nudge towards supporting Donald Trump. The best men went on to ask guests to describe the groom, in which the responses were, ‘clever, bright, logical, thoughtful, honest and a spread sheet for everything!’ It seemed that it was really hard to find a bad thing to say about Stuart, which is rather annoying! They completed their speeches by thanking Katie for completing Stuart’s life.

The speeches ended with applauses from the wedding guests, which meant it was time for the scrumptious meal which was served by our regulars at Hornington Manor, Hog and Apple. Ged from Hog and Apple has been whole heartedly recommended by so many people and claimed by lots as ‘the best wedding food they’ve ever had!’

Once everyone had enjoyed a scrumptious meal, it was time to take to the dance floor for a night full of partying. Accompanying the guests for their evening was the sound of the great music of The Fitzroy Six. They filled the night with sounds of soul, swing, funk, motown and jazz.

Thank you Katie and Stuart for choosing Hornington Manor for your most special day together, the team here all send their very best wishes in your new married life.
