Love Stories

Roz and Lee, who over the years of planning, we have never seen without huge smiles, arrived true to form, over the moon and so excited for the weekend ahead. Roz, a self-confessed ‘tom boy’ was absolutely stunning with an off the shoulder lace fitted gown with dreamy up do and bold scarlet lip. Even Roz’s dad thought she was unrecognisable, but she was positively glowing and so super excited to marry Lee. Roz’s Bridesmaids worse pastel blue silk gowns, which is a beautiful shade for a spring.

Lee waited in the Gallery under the beautiful blossom archway from Limelight Wedding Emporium. Roz was cool, calm and collected, and walked down the aisle towards her husband-to-be to ‘Bonfire Heart’ performed by their wonderful musician who went on to entertain the guests all day and night.

After the ceremony, the sunshine drew everyone to the courtyard for canapes and reception drinks while the finishing touches were made to the wedding barn. Lovely little daffodils and greenery sat in terracotta pots in the centre of each table, accompanied by glass bottle candle holders filled with eucalyptus and surrounded with dried petal confetti.

The top table was framed by more lovely blossom trees continuing the spring time theme. Each guest was gifted a scratch card with love from the couple, ‘for richer, for poorer’. Place settings we marked with a handmade tag which had kept both Roz and Lee busy- Roz had learnt calligraphy and Lee was in charge of adding the tassels!

Hog and Apple served their incredible sharing platers of steak, fried chicken, mac ‘n’ cheese and mini cheesy jackets which was a feast! Towards the back of the barn sat their desert table with gorgwous lemon drizzle and salted caramel cakes, not forgetting the 6-tier cheese stack cake from the Fine Cheese Company, and mountains of bitesize brownies, millionaire’s shortbread and carrot cake nibbles.

MC Nev (Nevatron) took the mic and warmed up the guests in spectacular fashion, introducing every speech as though they were boxers entering the ring. Roz’s dad Tony was up first, and started out stating how the Planet testing had tested them, with weeks of rubbish weather, Fly Be nearly ruined stag do and then the dreaded Corona Virus started to cause mayhem. But nothing could spoil this day!

Tony told us how Lee proposed 18 months ago, and he had asked Tony in a toilet in his office after asking the real boss – Roz Mum.

Roz was the child who never stopped talking. She was stubborn, a surrogate mum for sister Lucy, and always had incredible eating skills. She as a water baby and loves dungarees, so Tony barely recognised her in her stunning dress. Tony was so incredibly proud of his loyal, caring and quirky daughter who as a nurse, runs towards a crisis when everyone else runs away.

MC – Nev worked the room again like a pro and our Groom had to down a pint before his speech; ‘My Captain, Your Captain!’.

Lee gushed at how beautiful his wife looked, with heckles from Daz agreeing ‘Would I Ever!’ When Lee met Roz, he could tell that she was thoroughly unimpressed. She had been tricked into a double date. Eventually after lots of alcohol, she fell for his dance moves.

Lee had so many thank yous, to the best bunch of mates in the world- the wives, the kids, his pals all formed a huge borderline functioning family. Lee and Roz both love Grand Designs and he likened planning a wedding to building a house. There are a few things you need-

  1. Funding – Thank you to parents
  2. Planning – Thank you to Amy and Lucy who planned Roz’s Hen, Daniel who planned stag in Belfast, Nev Mc Nevatron, and Gummy for his reading during the ceremony.
  3. Hard Work- It was mostly Roz who got the show on the road, and ‘got shit done while I fannied around.’ Roz is his rock, partner in crime and he feels lucky every day.

Last up was Best Man and long-time pal Daniel, who admitted it was going to be a tough job making Yorkshires dullest man sound interesting. Daniel asked 3 people that know better than anyone for some interesting stories to tell, their responses were- “You know better than me”,  “I’ll get back to you”, and “He once got his foot stuck in a gate”.

Daniel is to thank for Lee and Roz’s love story. He knew women judged him on his looks before they could be dazzled by his knowledge of tax codes so he introduced the pair, and the rest is history. Is he fun? No, He told us to stop running by the pool on holiday in case we got hurt. Is he academic? No, he was thrown out of science for sniffing petrol and broke his collarbone doing the long jump. But, he can down a pint in seconds. *Cue Lee downing his second pint*

After a fabulous day filled with love and laughter, a fabulous evening filled with dancing and drinking followed. A huge hog roast was served as dancing fuel and the party continued into the early hours. We loved being a part of Roz ad Lee’s day and we wish them a lifetime of happiness!
