‘He’s not perfect. You aren’t either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can.
He isn’t going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze.
Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.’– Bob Marley.
This beautiful poem was read by Sarah during the wedding ceremony of Kirsty and Karl at the stunning All Saints Church in Bolton Percy.
Nicola read the following quote by Albert Einstein-
‘Gravitation cannot be held responsible for people falling in love. How on earth can you explain in terms of chemistry and physics so important a biological phenomenon as first love? Put your hand on a stove for a minute and it seems like an hour. Sit with that special girl for an hour and it seems like a minute. That’s relativity.’
We think this perfectly captures the magic of love, and especially that between Kirsty and Karl. The reading was even more apt as Karl has a huge interest in Science and is very interested in the theory of General Relativity.
The pair met in the hospital where they both worked as Physiotherapists in Newcastle. From that moment, to their wedding day, they have travelled the world together, and their adventures could be seen on each table as it marked a different country they had visited. The seating plan itself was a beautiful rustic wooden crate with tiny patterned pegs holding the plan together.
Each place setting had a polaroid photo of each guest, accompanied with a golden Lindt bunny- which is only right as they got married over Easter weekend!
Kirsty and her bridesmaids, Emily, Hannah and Rachel, had their hair and make-up done by the fabulous Sonia Schofield and Megan Boyne, and Kirsty decided on a beautiful up do which complimented her strapless sweetheart neckline dress perfectly. Kirsty looked incredible. Her bridesmaids were dressed in floaty burgundy dresses which were lovely. They came with a bit of a back story as Karl revealed he was roped in to help pick the dresses in Edinburgh 2 weeks before Christmas! He was so thankful for everything Emily, Hannah and Rachel had done to support Kirsty, but he certainly wasn’t thankful for that!
Kirsty and her besties had been incredibly busy on the lead up to the day! They had been taking flower arranging classes for weeks and had done all the bouquets, button holes and floral centerpieces themselves! We think Kirsty might have missed her calling, as they were truly stunning, and such a lovely touch that they were so personal. Kirsty had made a practice bouquet that she gave to her mum for Mother’s Day.
Kirsty and Karl had two wedding cakes, a beautiful three tiered sponge decorated with summer berries, and a spectacular 5 tiered cheese cake, topped with the most adorable hand made Mr and Mrs Mice. They were even dressed to match Kirsty and Karl!
Jim, Kirsty’s Dad, thanked the Hornington Microclimate for the absence of snow today, even though it was forecast! Before today he had asked his son Luke for some speech advice, and he had replied ‘Don’t talk for too long, otherwise you will bore everyone stiff!’, so with that in mind Jim whizzed through his speech, speaking of the lovely memories of Kirsty growing up, accompanied by a photo slideshow. We learnt that Kirsty is extremely sporty and loves running and skiing. She is so busy, Jim joked you need to make an appointment to see her! He talked very highly of Karl- Jim and Kirsty’s mum, Rosemary, like Karl very much as he is so level headed, kind and caring. He is also into science and history and he and Jim often have debates on the topic of General Relativity and what it actually means!
Jim joked of when Kirsty was in primary school, she was proposed to by three of her classmates on the same day, and decided that she would marry the boy with the best ring. She might have chosen George back then, but it’s not George who is here today, it’s Karl, and Jim wished them the happiest and healthiest of lives together.
Karl thanked his groomsmen for a fantastic stag do in Liverpool. They went on a Zombie experience and Karl’s day started at 11am with a bag over his head so he wasn’t sure how the rest of the stag would have gone! While he only had 1 stag do, Kirsty on the other had had 3! She was whisked away to Tenerife, Leeds and York by her wonderful friends and had a fantastic time!
He thanked his wife for all her hard work towards the wedding, and wondered whether now they were married, TLC’s ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ might not be on, ALL THE TIME! Karl revealed it didn’t take him long to fall in love with Kirsty after they had met in the hospital where Kirsty was his boss!
Karl’s Best Man James joked that Karl had only asked him to be his Best Man because he knew James would hate it! The pair met at uni and have been friends for 11 years. Karl moved in with James and his now wife Sarah for a time, however not long after that he met Kirsty. Karl came home from work one day and told James how there was a girl at his work who was so beautiful and looked like Keira Knightley!
Since then they had been inseparable, and even now Karl will sometimes choose to stay in and hang out with Kirsty than go out with the boys. James just couldn’t understand it, as any opportunity he gets to get away from his Mrs, he does. James joked he only agreed to be Best Man to get away for 5 minutes! Although it might be a bit soppy, James can picture Karl and Kirsty growing old together, largely because they already go out for tea at 5:30pm, they are members of the National Trust and Karl dresses as a retired politician!
Before Karl met Kirsty he didn’t think love was real, James revealed. He thought it was just chemicals in your brain creating emotions. But now it’s quite clear Karl’s opinion has changed, as he wanted to marry Kirsty from the moment he met her!
The guests enjoyed a feast from Purple Chilli before Karl and Kirsty’s first dance to ‘Only Love’ by Ben Howard. Then it was party time. They had arranged for a ceilidh band to entertain their guests and it was just wonderful to watch everyone up on their feet and getting stuck in!
Congratulations to the new Mr and Mrs Barbaro and thank you for sharing your gorgeous day with us at Hornington x
