Claire and Andy’s big day had finally arrived – for some couples it’s been nearly two years in the planning, but for Claire and Andy they planned their wedding in only eight months! The sun didn’t shine over Hornington Manor, but it didn’t matter, the fantastic photographer, Jamie Sia Photography found so many lovely places for photos and the pictures look so beautiful! Just shows when you have a lovely couple and backdrop – you don’t need good weather!

As guests arrived everyone was commenting on what a beautiful venue it was.  We still haven’t become quite immune yet to its beauty, but it is always lovely to hear such nice words about Hornington. The guests that were lucky enough to stay for the whole weekend particularly loved the pool table!

Claire and Andy had stuck to a rustic style for their wedding to complement the beautiful barn. The centre of tables were adorned with Kilner jars of flowers, with the rest of the barn decorated with lit trees, logs, festoon lights and a fabulous lit white heart – which provided the perfect photo opportunity! They really had gone all out with the decorations and it looked splendid. All the tables were named after our wonderful Great British birds like Kestrel and Barn Owl (some of which can be found at Hornington Manor).

Claire’s lovely bridesmaids, Nicola, Jill and Samantha walked the isle first, making way for the beautiful bride who followed in a lace dress on the arm of her proud Father, Mike. The ceremony included some lovely readings;

I’ve put an extract in here as I particularly enjoyed this one…

On Your wedding day.

Today is a day you will always remember

The greatest in anyone’s life,

You’ll start off the day just two people in love

And end it as husband and wife It’s a brand new beginning , the start of a journey

With moments to cherish  and treasure

And although there’ll be times when you both disagree

These will surely be outweighed by pleasure

You’ll have heard many words of advice in the past

When the secrets of marriage were spoken

But you know that the answers lie hidden inside.

Where the bond of true love lies unbroken

Live happy forever as the best of friends It’s the dawn of a new life for you

As you stand there together with love in your eyes

From the moment you whisper ‘I do’

With a bit of good luck all your dreams can be real

May success find its way to your hearts

Tomorrow can bring you the greatest of joys

Today is the day it all starts

The readings were followed by applause as Claire and Andy were finally announced as husband and wife. Following the drinks reception, it was time for some speeches. There were lovely speeches by the bride’s father Mike and groom Andy. The two best men, Alex and Gary, had made a comical video to entertain guests as part of their speech. It had everyone in stitches – as do most best men speeches!

For the hungry guests, one of our regular suppliers Hog and Apple provided a gastro pub-style classic pie and chips. The desert really tempted people’s taste buds – Yorkshire rhubarb crème brûlée and ginger ice cream. It looked truly delicious!

Sometimes our couples don’t always go for the traditional sweet wedding cake – much like Claire and Andy. Their magnificent cake was made from cheeses, but for those who had a sweet tooth, the Bride’s friend had baked some cupcakes too!

Food and drinks done, it was time to hit the dance floor. The barn was filled with music from DJs who were actually friends of the groom! They were great and always kept the dance floor full. For those wishing to rest their feet, a photo booth was set up on the mezzanine with lots of fun props for the guests.

Evening food was a delicious; wood-fired pizza by Pizza Fella, who parked up their converted Citroen H Van conveniently outside the wedding barn. It was the perfect snack break for those wishing to rest their dancing feet!

Thank you Claire and Andy for picking Hornington Manor as you wedding venue – we loved sharing your special day with you. We would like to wish you all the happiness in the world!
