“Words are so important for our lovely English teacher
The lovely couple said their vows at the local church to Hornington Manor, Bolton Percy. Joyful hymns were sung, such as ‘I Vow to thee my country’ and ‘O’come all ye faithful’.
Mark Fowler, the pianist was fabulous in the church providing the wedding march as Louise walked down the aisle.
Mark Fowler also provided some beautiful background music whilst the drinks reception was being served back at Hornington Manor. This however was not before a cheeky detour to the local pub next door to the church at Bolton Percy, which was notified to guests by a little footnote placed on the back of the order of service.
A wonderful food affair was served for the traditional wedding breakfast by Taste Divine, with an unexpected fun element to the whole dining experience when a lead person from each table was given a chef’s hat to carve the meat.
The speeches were very emotional, with even Louise taking to the microphone with a poem that she had written. It was a lovely poem, thanking her dad before going on to how she met Nick, it started with….
“I wasn’t meant to say anything today
Supposedly it’s not a woman’s place
However thanks to evolving human rights,
Us ladies can rebel and claim a tiny space
I have put these words in a poem
Because let’s face it half of you need a wee or a fag
But bear with me just for a moment
I promise I will attempt not to lag!
Before I get to my husband
I need to start with thanking my Dad
For he is the greatest father I know
And even at 74, he still acts like a lad
So – This is not a romantic story from the outset
It’s safe to say I never saw this boy as more than a mate
In fact he was someone who got pissed in the angel..
Someone whose cheesy lines and geekiness I used to berate
But over time our friendship started changing
We began to realise how strong a couple we could be
Yes – you still get drunk and piss in the cupboards
But I can see how perfect you are, perfect in fact, just for me
When Nick and I finally plucked up the courage and got together
I’d not had the best of years
Id gone through losing my Nanna and Mummy
And shed on him numerous tears
It was then I became amazed by his ability
To pull me out of the moments I felt sad
Some special kindness within this man of mine
Made me stronger, more together, more glad
Since then I can safely say I have never been happier
An adventure it has certainly been
We’ve travelled, we’ve bickered, we’ve smiled
And I am so happy we are now forever a team
We all have those important people in life
Some may even be sat by your very seat
The people who make you, just, well, better
The ones, like my Nick, who you are lucky to meet
So to Nick’s family I am grateful you accepted me
And I am thankful for where all your support has led
But most of all I thank you for creating and moulding
The greatest man I could ever have hoped to have wed
Now the soppy stuff is over
And this wife is finally quiet
So grab a drink in your hand and let us toast
To tonight’s party – lets hope – with your help – it’s a riot!
CHEERS”
Following the cheers Mike an international caricaturist came into the wedding barn, which was a very exciting surprise for Louise and Nick’s guests. He was brilliant and what a wonderful memento for all the lucky friends and family to take home with them.
(Words from the new Mr & Mrs Lister)
It was an absolute pleasure to host Nick and Louise’s wedding day here at Hornington Manor, quite simply they are lovely people and we wish them all the very best in their life together.
