The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of this glorious wedding one little bit.
However, as the bride and groom were brought back from the lovely little church of All Saints in Bolton Percy, we had bursts of sunshine to welcome the New Mr and Mrs Duckworth. The beautiful vintage car was decked with satin ribbon; it really was a lovely sight. Luckily, the photographer was ready with her camera to catch the movie-like moment.
Once all the guests had arrived back from the church ceremony, Pimms was served in the Manor before everyone made their way into the barn.
Anne and Andrew with the help of their friends and family had previously decorated the wedding barn in a theatrical theme. All the guests’ tables were named aptly with musical titles. Table centre pieces were adorned with brightly coloured Cyclamen plants which gave the wow factor on entry.
Before the speeches began, the food was provided by Hog and Apple, which was expertly carried out by Ged and his professional team. It was widely enjoyed by guests, you could tell just by the look on their faces!
With the food served it was time for the speeches, a part of the day I particular enjoy – as they are thoroughly entertaining, if not a little emotional sometimes!
Anne’s Father gave a very interesting speech of how his daughter has never ceased to entertain them. Anne is a brilliant violinist and offered to do a solo for her father’s birthday, which made his birthday even the more special. Andrew was then introduced by Anne’s father, who was thought to be the perfect son in law and husband for their daughter. He went on to exclaim how from day one Andrew had fitted in with the family, rolling his sleeves up and getting on with helping out.
Andrew had proposed to his beautiful bride in New Zealand after knowing Anne for more than eight years. Andrew is a very keen cricketer and a very good one at that which was mentioned by a number of guests. It was also mentioned in the father of the bride’s speech, that sports people, in particular cricketers were said to be very domesticated. Lucky Anne!
For some light entertainment, Andrew had organised a quiz amongst the guests on each table. Questions such as – “Who got a hole in one at the golf?”, “Who dislikes nuts?” and “Who is the better dancer?”. The answers were definitely 50/50, with individuals having different opinions of the bride and groom. It was interesting to see who answered who. The best dancer question no doubt would have been answered by the bride and groom themselves, later on in the evening!
Ben Lancaster was lovely serenading the guests as they wound down after their meal. He played beautiful calming songs such as Ed Sheeran’s ‘Thinking Out Loud’.
The evening was rounded up with a fantastic Aluinn Ceilidh Band, who is based in Leeds. They proved to be very popular indeed and had all the guests up and dancing. Everyone was certainly in the party mood, with rock and pop adding to their repertoire, making it the perfect mix for a fun night ahead.
On behalf of the Hornington team, we’d like to wish Anne and Andrew a very happy and healthy married like as Mr & Mrs Duckworth.
